Move it Vigo Urban Dance Competition

The urban dance event will bring together more than 1,200 dancers from all over Galicia and provinces of Spain on Saturday, April 6.

More than 4,000 € in cash prizes and 13 categories at stake on a 200 square meter stage.

Wednesday, April 3, 2024. MOVE IT Vigo is a renowned urban dance competition that brings together the best dancers and teams in the country and in which groups and couples from 4 years of age can participate. It promotes creativity, talent and passion for urban dance, offering a platform for the dissemination, exhibition and promotion of choreographers and dancers from around the world. The main objective is to promote the culture of urban dance, providing an unforgettable experience for both participants and the audience.

The Hesperia Hotel in Vigo was the setting for the presentation of the great event of urban dance, an event chaired by the Secretary General for Sport of the Xunta de Galicia, José Ramón Lete, and led by the director and organizer of Move it Vigo, Raquel Rodriguez, and in which was also present the Head of the Provincial Sports Service, Daniel Benavides.

Move it Vigo, which in this 2024 celebrates its third edition, has been created by Raquel Rodriguez, urban dance teacher and organizer of dance events.

Move it Vigo will be held on Saturday April 6 at the facilities of the Instituto Ferial de Vigo - IFEVI, in an exhibition space adapted to the event and will feature a stage of almost 200 square meters on which will dance more than 1,200 participants registered for the event, residents in the four Galician provinces, as well as from León, Valladolid, Salamanca, Las Palmas, Lanzarote, Tenerife and Asturias.

Annex to pavilion number 3 of the IFEVI, a large backstage will be installed where the dressing rooms, warm-up areas, medical assistance, volunteers and physiotherapists will be located, in a wide logistics and organization device in which Vodea - Voluntariado Galego and Clínica San Lázaro collaborate, both entities with a special deployment. In addition, Gadis Supermarkets is collaborating by distributing water and snacks to all participants.

Move it Vigo will be presented by Hurakán Bastida, a true specialist in the urban dance modality and entertainer in big shows and events such as this Urban Dance Competition.

The jury will be composed of the choreographer and dancer Sarah Coral, the urban dancer Ruth Prim and the teacher of Operación Triunfo and choreographer of Abraham Mateo, among other artists, Vicky Gómez. They will judge different criteria such as musical interpretation and musicality, technique, innovation and originality, style and expression and overall impression.

More than 4,000 € in cash will be distributed, as well as medals and trophies and there will also be special mentions to the group with more Flow in all categories and best costumes in five categories. In the morning shift will compete in the categories of dancers from 4 years to 13 years: Baby, Infant, Junior, Mini Couples and Mini Soloist. In the afternoon it will be the turn of the categories of dancers from 14 years of age: Youth, Absolute, Minicrew, Couples, Soloist, Premium, Megacrew and Heels.

The success of this third edition is also reflected in the Online Box Office, where there are no more tickets for sale, reserving only a minimum amount for the on-site box office at IFEVI.

Group performances will be highlighted, with choreographies involving up to 40 dancers, but solo, couple and trio performances are also eagerly awaited.

Move it Vigo will open the doors of the IFEVI to the public at 9.30 am this Saturday April 6, starting the show around 10 am until a quarter past two in the morning block, being the afternoon competition from twenty minutes to four until ten in the evening.

Three food trucks serving different food specialties will remain open throughout the day, as well as the IFEVI's own cafeteria.
